Book update, I'm still reading it, but I've decided just to read it and not to make a ritual out of it ;-)

Strangely stressful weekend, has a lot to do with trying to spend more money than I've ever spent in my life on a flat. I've put an offer in on another one and it's a matter of wait and see.

By a strange coincidence I got the book on Thursday.

It's a tough decision, I now have the final work of my favourite author in my possession, do I read it quickly in less than 8 hours as I have done with most of his other books, or do I wait and read it slowly over the next week or so, difficult. I didn't even expect to have it for another two weeks and yet here it is, with possibly the worst cover I've ever seen. Well I'll try the slow approach but it's Douglas Adams so it's going to be difficult.

Have the last two and a half years not happened? It's really odd living at home with my parents again, the sooner I get my own flat the better.

Just watched my DVD of Amelie, a lovely beautiful film with a happy ending that makes me sad.

I used the word cavalcade in conversion, then spent the next ten minutes trying to work out whether I knew what it actually meant. It's strange the number of interesting words I have rolling around my head that can come out at unexpected moments.

In website news, I updated, well backdated the archives. Now if you go back the formatting looks as it did when I wrote the blog originally. Yes I was bored on Wednesday evening ;-)

One other amusing thing, is I witnessed Steve H's signature on his new record contract. Very odd.

Well that was cool. My flatmate (okay he's not anymore as we moved out today, so just my friend then) Steven produces the late show on BBC London. A couple of weeks ago I asked if he'd like to have Marillion (my all time favourite band) on as they have a new album coming out, he said that'd be fine as long as they played a couple of songs and coulld do it soon. So I emailed Lucy their promotions person, given her the idea, she contacted Steve and hey presto I tonight I met and saw my favourite band playing live just across the other side of a studio. I've met them before a couple of times but it's nice to be in a position to give them a bit of promotion. They thanked me a took a picture of me with the band, and H the lead singer promised me backstage passes for a future gig. My 14 year old self would never have believed anything like that would ever happen, the 26 year version realises they just human like everyone else. I've always said you should always try to meet your idols and heroes. I just can't believe I'm the reason they were where they were tonight, it just seems too weird to me :-)

The old flat is now so incredibly clean I really can't believe I live here, come to mention it, by Friday I wont.

Some people's impatience with other people can really annoy me. Of course someone who's only being doing a job for three days with only two weeks training is going to make mistakes, it's doesn't mean they can't do the job it just means compared with someone who had two months training they are going to make more mistakes on the job, and if you will throw them on the night shift immediately where they're on their own rather than have them on days with a larger team around them it's not really going to help either. It's madness the way producers are trained at work. I just wish the more senior people had a bit more patience and support for them.

In other matters I've just realised I've mispelled 'tries' earlier in on in my blog. I spell things wrong all the time but I think I'm only mentioning it because I used it in a sentence to do with Justin, and he's very particular about that kind of stuff ;-)

My memory is going, or something. Some friends of mine decided that we needed to go out dancing, so I suggested Saturday, so we went out dancing and had a fantastic time. Where's the memory thing come in you ask? Well I'm getting to that, a little patience please... back in September last year I got a ticket to go and see Faithless in December, but the gig got postponed until April, an it was scheduled for Saturday too (see it was a long time I had to remember and I don't like diaries) so I forgot until Saturday morning, and I couldn't find my friends number... now I'm getting bored of this story... so I thought, better to go out with your friends than to a concert on your own. So I popped down Brixton sold the ticket to a tout for the price I paid, and went out and had a great night :-)

There is a strange sense of belonging, that events like the funeral of the Queen Mum create. It's odd but Britain does the formal thing very well, it's like a big opera only no one's written the script. In a strange way it makes me feel proud to be english and I have no idea why. Maybe it's just feeling part of something that's bigger than you are, my it's just living in London and be just so close to it all.

The idea of going back to live with my parents, even for the shortest possible time, at the age of 26 is a scary one.

Well the swollen lip has reduced in size and my overall body ache has stopped. In other matters *try's to out geek Justin* as well as having installed a CD burner, I've just set up a mini network in my bedroom between my laptop and my desktop. I'm very worried about the level of satisfaction I gain from doing very geeky things sucessfully first time. :-) And for all those of you who didn't know, yes the desktop is new, my Mum won it recently, and I pointed out that she didn't need it and took it home with me ;-)

If a rock n' roll band ever ask you to go and play football with them, think very carefully about it. Belle and Sebastian asked during the middle of their gig last night if anyone wanted to have a game of football today at five O' clock opposite the Royal Albert Hall. So I went along as did about 25 other people, I now ache like mad, my lip is swollen, the base of my spine is bruised and my ankle is twisted. But admittedly I do have an autographed ticket and a new friendship to show for it so that's cool :-)

I do like Belle and Sebastian gigs, they usually do something strange in the middle of them which keeps it interesting. Last night they brought on a steel drum band, and let them play a Bob Marley tune, it was an odd but fun moment.

I've just had a fantastic weekend. I managed to get invited along to a mad music weekend at Sam's place, he works for h2g2, along with Chris. Over the Saturday and Sunday there must have been about 20 musicians and creative people who made an appearence on the recordings we created. Compared to everyone else I was very much the amateur musician, although I was never felt to feel that way. If there's any justice in the world some of these people should be very sucessfull one day. It was a very inspiring experience, now I've got to finish off some more of my own songs.
